Is this distance worthy enough?

I went to a community diwali on a weekend near durham.Boy,wasn't I feeling good about it.Felt like there were so many recognisable faces around with whom I could communicate without saying a word.When was the last time I felt like that at a gathering!I have nothing against the other communities ,I can gell along well with anyone,I know I can.Its only that sense of feeling at home which makes you more comfortable.They were celebrating the festival of lights (oops....we were) in all its grandeur.It was a real community celebration ,all of them celebrating it together.Several questions popped in my mind.Were these people the same when they were in their homeland?Or has the distance brought them together,being the minority in this part of the world?The very thought of a united India brings me immense joy,but alas is this a dream going sour or will it be a dream coming true?I am no patriot ,I am just the guy next door .Everything you do in your 'home' becomes a rarity in this part of the world and is captured with the lens for the family far and beyond.So where are we heading???
