T5 Cricket

I had a very good weekend thanks to cricket .This 5 over format was completely alien to me . It was the slam bang version with 8 members in a team .We played 3 games on friday night and 4 games on saturday. We won 2 out of those 3 games on friday night and were supposedly knocked out of the tournament until we got the news on saturday afternoon that we still had one more game left to fight it out to get an entry to the next round. That proved to be my nemesis and to my team.

Well as I mentioned previously that we were under the impression that we were knocked out of the tournament and a teammate and myself started playing for a sister team.We won the first two games until the last one which got us knocked out of the tournament. Then my teammate and myself started playing for our own team which went on to become our last match.I had a very decent tournament until this game.It was a total disaster for myself and the team.I was literally taken apart. But things turned around after the 2nd over until they needed 10 runs of the last over. Then they started showing their true colors. There was this clear run out involved which people standing across the boundary could judge .This triggered a round of arguments for 10 minutes. We realised there was no point in arguing with people who had no souls of their own and they won of the final ball. All thanks to a dastardly umpire who was biased to his hometeam. They did not have the guts to accept the truth.

Well I learnt my lesson that day that you need to be good shape to back up your fighting instincts. It wasn't evident for me that my energy levels were grounded until I got pounded!! I had belief in myself until that 'over' happened and in my heart of heart's I promised myself that I am never going to repeat that .Dont take the field if your physical condition is no position to support you.

I met my teammates daughter, a 2 year old cutiepie. Wasn't she something , a complete knockout. She was apprehensive initially on seeing my unrecognizable face . For some reason she was crying which tugged my heart.Everything looked perfect on her face ,from the teardrops clinging to her eye lashes refusing to roll down her cheeks to the way she groomed her hair. She looked picture perfect. I hadnt come across such a cute two year old girl and she left an indelible impression on my mind.I managed her to bid me adios in those precious ten minutes of interaction.I was happy that I had won her confidence. We exchanged numbers after the match and I went my way to rest my battered body with mixed memories.
